Resurrection Bush Oil
Names:
Myrothamnus flabellifolius Welw., mufandichimuka (Shona), Resurrection bush (English)
Plant:
Our Resurrection Bush Oil is steam distilled from Myrothamnus flabellifolius, a plant species native to Southern Africa. This interesting plant is a small, rigid, woody shrub of up to 0.4 meters in height, with tough branches. The leaves are fan shaped, folded lengthwise and toothed along the upper edges. It is found in abundance in rocky places on dry mountain slopes. It is a true miracle plant as the completely dry leaves revive very fast when the rains come.
Harvesting:
The plant is sustainably harvested by breaking branches off the plant by hand by our trained collectors from the wild. Care is however taken not to strip the plant of all it leaves.
Properties:
The major components of our Resurrection Bush Oil are trans-ipnocarveol 28.8%, pinocarvone 13.4-21.3%, α-pinene 23% and β-selinene 5-9.9%. 3,4,5 tri-o-galloylquinic acid, tetra-galloylquinic acid and further polyphenol complexes are “super tannins” in the oil making up to 74 % dry weight in dried leaf. They are known as highly effective antioxidants that prevent or delay lipid oxidation. Its aroma can be described as spicy, piney and floral.
Uses:
The high number of potential uses for our essential oil makes it an ubiquitous oil as it has a synegistic function when combined with other oils: antiseptic, antifungal, antiasthmatic, liposome stabilizer, UV absorbent, bacteriocide pyrobacter, DNA stabilizer, HIV 1 polymerase inhibitor.
Quantities:
Any quantities required from 50ml up to bulk. Shipment can be done worldwide.
